Shrubbs’ Batmitzvah Programme and The Friendship Circle - Working Together

We are excited to share with you a fantastic charitable initiative, the seeds of which were sown through two shul programmes.

Over the last 12 months Mikey and Rivka have launched and run a Shrubbs’ Batmitzvah Programme for girls within the shul.  This was an entirely new initiative and took the form of group sessions followed by ‘one-on-ones’ with different female leaders from the Shrubbs and wider Jewish community.  Of course, Covid 19 has had an impact over the last few months which has limited certain parts of the programme but other elements have continued.  Three girls have participated this year as the ‘pioneers’, all of whom have taken a huge amount from the programme and equally given back a lot through various communal and charitable activities.  The hope and expectation is that this programme will be taken forward for girls approaching their Batmitzvah in the coming months and years.

On the back of the programme, one of the girls, Eliana Kaye, decided with her parents that she wanted to undertake a charitable project as part of her Batmitzvah milestone.  She decided to produce a recipe book based on a theme of Friendship, seeking recipes from friends, family and people who have played an important role in her life – she has even sourced some celebrity input into the recipes book!  This will be a properly designed and printed recipe book with 80 recipes.  The book is filled with quotes about friendship from the contributors to the book.

Eliana decided that the book would raise money for the Friendship Circle, on the back of the connection that has been forged between the shul and The Friendship Circle and following the success of the joint events in the last year or so.  This seemed even more appropriate given the Friendship theme of the book!

We are delighted to see Shrubberies youth benefitting from these shul initiatives and choosing to ‘give back’ and we therefore wanted to share with you details of this wonderful project and give you the opportunity to get involved.  We have attached the flyer for the recipe book which gives details of how to order a copy of the recipe book and sponsorship opportunities.  The link to place your order and participate is on the flyer itself [SCROLL DOWN TWO PAGES] and also included below.

[Please ensure that when you get to the end you do ‘submit’ the form before going off and making payment to the Friendship Circle, otherwise your order will not be recorded!]

Well done Eliana and thanks to everybody involved in the new Batmitzvah programme.

With best wishes and Good Shabbos,
