Dear Friends, this Sunday is the saddest day of the Jewish calendar and that is Tisha B 'Av - When it falls out on Sunday the rules are slightly different to other years. I'd like to clarify what needs to be done this week.
We will be davening Mincha at 6:00 p.m this Shabbos afternoon. After that people should eat their Shalosh Seudos at home, in order to be full for the fast.
Although normally you would not be allowed to eat meat or drink wine right before Tisha B 'Av this year's an exception and you're allowed to have all of these things for seuda.
The fast will start at 9:01 p.m and you must finish eating by that point.
We will commence Maariv in Shul at 10:15 p.m which is 10 minutes after Shabbos goes out at 10:05 p.m.
At 10:05 p.m. a person should say "Baruch hamavdil being kodesh lechol" as an interim Havdalla and then change out of their leather shoes into the shoes they will be wearing for the fast day.
On Sunday morning we will be davening Shacharit at 8:30 a.m and this will be followed by explanatory Kinnot in the main Shul.
There will be two Minyanim for Mincha, one at 2:00 p.m and the other at 7:45 p.m.
There will also be a program that we are running in conjunction with Aish, poster with the details to follow.
We wish you a meaningful fast.
Kind regards,
Rabbi Dovid Eisenberg
