The Jewish Representative Council of Greater Manchester & Region (JRC) wishes to ensure that there is a strategic approach to the settlement of refugees so that all the efforts of our communities occur in a coordinated way that maximises the good that we are able to do, avoiding duplication of efforts and wasting resources.

Please see poster from the World Jewish Relief regarding volunteering to house refugees. There are other reputable organisations also working in the field and it is great if people are volunteering through them. The JRC would like to keep a register of those who come forward and would be very grateful if you could forward a list of volunteers to the JRC office office@jewishmanchester.org We appreciate that there is a GDPR implication but please be assured that all data received will be treated with the strictest confidence.
Reception of the refugees will be a major undertaking for our communities. They will need housing, schools, shuls, help with English, access to medical assistance, particularly in regards to mental health as they may well have been traumatised by war and flight. They will also (where possible) need to be matched with people with a similar religious outlook. This will need a high degree of coordination and the more information that we have about those who are volunteering to house families, the smoother their transition will be to life in Manchester.
